Animal of the Day

Today I am starting a new daily blog posting called the animal of the day. I will highlight a fish, coral or other invertebrate and give you the details about it.

Common Name Squirrel Fish, Big Eye Squirrel Fish
Scientific Name Myripristis sp.
Maximum Size 9 inches
Range Indo Pacific and Eastern Pacific
Difficulty of care Relatively easy fish
Minimum aquarium size 75 gallons
Reef safe? Will eat shrimp and other inverts, so add to a reef with caution
General Info Prefers to be kept in small schools, diet is varied. The fish is a carnivore. The squirrel fish is also nocturnal.
